Second Floor Washing Machine Leak Causes First Floor Water Damage

It does not take long for water from a leak on the second story of a build to spill down to the first floor.  The main causes of water leaks that come from the second floor to the first floor of a property are toilet leaks, overflowing bathtubs or faucets, and second floor laundry rooms.

Second floor laundry rooms can create a lot of damage if the washing machine leaks.  Here are a few tips to prevent a water catastrophe: 

• Shut off the water supply to your washing machine if you are going to be away from home.

• Check all exposed pipes for signs of damage or leakage.

• Make sure to empty the dryer tank periodically.
