Soot and Smoke Odor Can Be Sneaky

Soot seeps into contents

Soot covered surfaces all over a house after a small kitchen fire.  The fire started in a small pot in the kitchen and was put out within minutes but the damage went beyond the kitchen.  Carpets, rugs, curtains, and fabrics are especially susceptible to trapping smoke odor and soot into their fibers.  This can be devastating if not treated properly.  In this first picture you can see soot damaged carpet in contrast to the clean carpet that was covered by the rug.
